General Questions (Registration, Searching, etc)
I registered, but I never
got my verification email. What should I do?
Check your spam/bulk mail folder. Your mail
system may have placed our message there. You
can also login (with the username and password
you configured during registration) and click on
the link "Have this email sent again." If you
still don't receive your verification email,
please contact us
here.
How can I recover my username and/or
password?
You can recover your username and/or password
here. This link is also available on the
login/registration page.
I am new to this site
and have little or no feedback. How can I show I
am a trusted member?
If you have a positive member history / feedback
at another site such as eBay, you can associate
that score with your account here at the
Scribblemonger Book Exchange: our members have
been placing "My Scribblemonger Book Exchange
name is <Scribblemonger Book Exchange
username here>" on their member page at the
other site. (See an example
here.)
Then they place "My <other
site name> user name is <other site username>" on their
Scribblemonger Book Exchange member page.
(See example
here.) You earned your trading
history, and it is your asset. Make use of it.
How do I leave feedback
for a completed transaction?
Click on the "my account" link, available at
the upper right of every Scribblemonger Book
Exchange page when
you're logged in. The main account page displays
all your active and completed listings, as well
as listings you purchased/traded for. Each
completed and purchased/traded for listing will
have a "Leave Feedback" selection on the same
line. Leaving feedback is a quick and easy thing
to do, and greatly benefits the Scribblemonger
Book Exchange
community.
What fees
& commissions does the Scribblemonger Book
Exchange charge?
Buyers pay no fees or commissions whatsoever. Ever.
We charge sellers the lowest rates in the industry -- just
5% commission on sales with a maximum of $5.00 per book.
If you list a total of five books or fewer, there's no charge at
all. And there's never a listing fee or a membership fee or any
other kind of fee -- just a 5% commission on sales.
Questions on
Buying
How do I purchase a book that I have found
on this site?
You must be registered and signed in to purchase
a book. When signed in, every book listing
page will have an 'Add to Cart' button.
Clicking this will place the item in your cart.
From the cart you can make your purchase
request.
I requested a book using
the 'Add to Cart' button. What happens next?
The book is added to your cart, which
can be viewed by clicking the 'my cart' link at
the upper right of every page when you are
logged in. From the cart, you can purchase
the book (or books) from each bookseller you
have selected them from by sending the request
to them (you must checkout individually with
each bookseller). If the seller supports
it, you can also choose to checkout through
PayPal. If not, the bookseller will
respond to you with payment options, mailing address,
and (if applicable) trading opportunities. After
the bookseller is notified of the purchase
request, the Scribblemonger Book Exchange is no
longer involved -- it's up to you and the
bookseller to work out the details of the
transaction.

How

There are a few ways to add an image of your
book.
Method 1.
Go to the listing to which you want to add the
image. If you’re not already logged in,
click register/sign in at the top left corner of
the page and log in. You’ll be returned to
the listing page. Near the upper-right

page. Under the Description field, check

choices are enabled. Select Replace with

Navigate to the image you want to use and select
it.
How you select the image depends on your
computer. A small icon representing the
image along with its name appears on the page.
Click the Submit button at the bottom of the
page. Your changes are saved, and you go
to the Edit Listing Complete page. If you
like, you can review your changes by clicking
the link provided.
Method 2.
Links to images can be added if your inventory
management software supports specifying links to
images. UIEE (used by BookTrakker) and
HomeBase make use of this.
Method 3. Uploading of images
is also supported using an ftp client, or
through inventory management software that
supports image uploads (such as BookTrakker). Images can be uploaded individually, or
zipped into a .zip file. Image formats
supported are: .jpg, .gif, and .bmp.
Image file names must be the Record Number (i.e.
inventory number, SKU, &c) of the listed book
the image is for. For example, a .jpg
image for a book with a record number of
'BK0042' must have a filename of BK0042.jpg.
Images can also be directly uploaded using an
ftp client program. Files should be placed
in the root area of your account.
I received an email
indicating someone has requested one of my books.
What should I do?
When someone requests your book, you
should get back to them as promptly as possible.
In your message, tell the requester about
payment options and your mailing address if
appropriate. After you have been notified of the
request by the buyer, the Scribblemonger Book
Exchange is no longer involved -- it's up to you
and the buyer to work out the details of the
transaction.
