What's New at the Scribblemonger Book Exchange
November 1, 2010 - Improvements
have been made to the Booksellers page. Booksellers can
now searched for based on name (first letter of store name or
string contained within name) or country. Thanks to
Palm Tree Books and
Chris Hartmann, Bookseller for recommending this addition be
done.
May 5, 2010 - Alibris Tab Delimited
files are now supported as one of the inventory upload formats.
Thanks to
Books N Bears Media Sales for providing the information.
April 15, 2010 - Booksellers can
now enter 'Terms of Sale' text which will be displayed on each
listing for sale. A link to the page for this feature is
available on the 'my account' page. Things like return
policy, sales tax requirements, and non-standard shipping
charges can be indicated here. Thanks to
Andrew Langer,
Bookseller for the suggestion.
April 13, 2010 - First Edition
and Signed indicators are now provided on the search results
page. Thanks to
4Shadows Books for the suggestion.
March 23, 2010 - 'Order Pulling', a
feature where Scribblemonger places order information in your
ftp account for inventory management packages to read, is now
supported. The Art of Books and FillZ currently have the
ability to pull orders. You must configure your account at
Scribblemonger to write out orders (see the
inventory help page).
March 22, 2010 - FillZ added to the
list of supported inventory management packages.
Scribblemonger is configured as a Custom Marketplace.
March 20, 2010 - Scribblemonger has
been added to the list of sites supported by Prager, Software.
See the inventory help
page for details on configuring Prager to work with us.
March 19, 2010 - When purchasing an
item, buyers are now required to enter a shipping address during
checkout. This information is then conveyed to the seller
in the purchase notification. Previously, the address was
only provided by PayPal, or the seller needed to collect this
information if selling directly.
March 17, 2010 - eBook support is
provided. For uploaded books, entering 'eBook' or
'digital' in the binding field (case insensitive) will flag a
listing as an eBook. These items can be specifically
searched for.
March 10, 2010 - Booksellers, you
can now put your account on holiday. Select the type of
vacation/holiday setting you prefer, enter a return date, and
we'll do the rest. There are two different vacations
settings to choose from: 1) Your inventory is set to inactive,
is not viewable, and may not be purchased or 2) Your
inventory is viewable, and may still be purchased (or requested
to be purchased). The buyer is notified (in the cart) that
the item(s) will not ship until the date you have specified as
your return date. They can choose to wait, or grab that
long sought for item right then.
This setting is configured on your 'my account' page.
Your listings are returned to active on the date you specify; or
you can manually return them to active at an earlier date.
You can also change the return date at any time while you are
gone.
February 24, 2010 - New search
options: Search for listings with images and Search by media
type (Books, Movies, Music, or all types).
February 23, 2010 - Art of Book
Tab-Delimited format support added. Inventory help updated
to include configuring uploads from Art of Book as a Custom
Venue.
February 9, 2010 - Currency
conversion is now supported. Prices can be displayed in
either AUD, CAD, EUR, GBP, NZD, or USD. Members can select
their preferred display setting on the 'my account' page, and
prices will be shown in that currency when signed in.
February 4, 2010 - You can now
add a picture to your About Me page. Post a picture of
yourself, your bookstore, your book collection, the
coast of the Bristol Channel... or even
your cat.
But please post something. We'd like to get to know
each other better.
February 3, 2010 -
Inventory upload from World Book Market - Book Base is now
supported. The upload can be accomplished through the WBM-BB
software, or the inventory file can be directly uploaded using
the upload feature on your 'my account' page.
February 3, 2010 - Uploading of
image files is now supported. The upload can be
accomplished using ftp or the Scribblemonger uploader available
on the 'my account' page. Individual files can be sent
(.jpg, .gif, and .bmp), or the image files can be zipped up and
uploaded as a .zip file. BookTrakker also supports
uploading of image files.
January 29, 2010 - The
Scribblemonger Forums have been launched. You can create a
nickname for yourself for use in the forums; this setting is
available on your account page. The nickname defaults to
your username.
January 27, 2010 - Support added
for uploads of tilde (~) delimited files from Booklist inventory
management software. Later versions of Booklist also
export to UIEE; when exporting that way use the UIEE upload
format setting.
January 26, 2010 - Currency
conversion added. You can now specify the currency that
your inventory is uploaded in. We will adjust the listed
prices to display in US$ based on your currency selection.
January 26, 2010 - Price
Reduction feature: Booksellers can specify a percent reduction
in listed prices. This provides a way to share the reduced
expenses at the Scribblemonger Book Exchange with buyers.
With large inventories, it is difficult to change prices for one
site as opposed to others. This feature allows the normal
prices to be uploaded (entered) and an adjustment is made by us.
January 24, 2010 - Added support for a Scribblemonger
preferred tab-delimited inventory upload format. Put your
whatever-delimited data into our tab delimited format and
upload. No need to contact us to support your format.
The Scribblemonger file format is one of several supported, and
appears in the list within the Bookseller Inventory Management
section on the 'my account' page.
January 23, 2010 - Changed the
random display of books to be a random display of books from a
randomly selected Bookseller. Bookseller name is
displayed, along with a link to their About page.
Booksellers with 50 or more books listed are included in the
random drawing.
